Proposed Convenience Shopping Precinct

The developer of The Waters at Ooralea has made an application to Mackay Regional Council to rezone an area of approximately 3.2 hectares for future development of a Convenience Shopping Precinct, and part of the assessment process is a Public Notification Period during which Submissions regarding the application can be made to Council by members of the public.

Cafes, Restaurants and Fast Food

It is proposed that the Convenience Shopping Precinct will be developed in stages as the adjacent residential population expands and, when fully developed, may include:

  • Service Station
  • Fast Food outlets
  • Dining Precinct including Dine-In and Take-Away
  • Convenience Supermarket
  • Medical Centre/Pharmacy
  • Child Care Centre
  • Retail and other convenience uses of complementary nature
Retail Shopping

The Convenience Shopping Precinct will provide improved amenity to residents of The Waters at Ooralea, and development of the Precinct will also include extension of Fairway Drive for ease of access from within The Waters at Ooralea and construction of a new Bruce Highway intersection adjacent to the Convenience Retail Precinct.

Given the benefit of the Convenience Shopping Precinct to residents of The Waters at Ooralea and adjacent residential areas, those residents are urged to make a Submission to Mackay Regional Council in support of the rezoning application.

  1. Posted to Mackay Regional Council at PO Box 41, Mackay Q 4740; or
  2. Scanned and emailed to Mackay Regional Council at council@mackay.qld.gov.au

Please note that Submissions in support of this proposal must be made no later than 01 February 2019.
